Zaharenco blends the language of jazz with elements drawn from classical music, film scores, and groove-driven energy. Led by pianist and composer Alexandru Zaharencu, the Zaharenco Quartet brings a fresh perspective to the Romanian jazz scene. Their music falls within the New Jazz genre and stands out through a constant tension between structure and freedom, between written form and improvisation. Zaharenco debuted in November 2021 with the release of the EP Primordial Feelings. Currently, the band is working on their debut album, Looking for a Better Place, scheduled for release in May 2026. The album brings together the previously released singles, Condition 4 and Condition 5 (2024), alongside Haze State (2025). Zaharenco has become a constant presence on the Romanian contemporary jazz scene, regularly performing at festivals and dedicated venues, including Csíki Jazz, JazzUp, Jazz in the Park, and the Transilvania Jazz Festival.
