Among the greatest jazz musicians, Jan Garbarek used the last 50 years of his musical career to transform everything that is complicated into a simple, clear and clean language. He was nominated for Grammy Awards, received the Norwegian Arts Council Award and the Willy-Brandt-Award for his unique style, inspired by the improvisation of the 60’s and 70’s, by Norwegian folklore and the most exotic of cultural influences. His music is harmonious and migrates from silence to ecstasy, being both simple and complex, lucid and intense. Jan Garbarek is one of the most popular artists of ECM Records and has collaborated over the years with Keith Jarrett, Hilliard Ensemble, Ralph Towner, Bill Frisell, Zakir Hussain, David Torn and Terje Rypdal.
Jan Garbarek returns to Garana after 12 years, alongside German pianist and composer Rainer Brüninghaus, Brazilian bass player Yuri Daniel and the Indian percussionist Trilok Gurtu – the artist that charmingly combines the music of Mumbai, his hometown with jazz fusion and world music. The group promises a sensational and profound sound journey. The concert of Jan Garbarek Group feat. Trilok Gurtu will take place Thursday, July 11th, in the opening of the 23rd edition of Garana Jazz Festival.
