Emy Drăgoi returns to the Gărâna Jazz Festival stage after enchanting the audience in Wolf’s Meadow 8 years ago. Emy Drăgoi is a Romanian accordionist famous throughout Europe. In 2005, he was declared accordionist of the year in France. His musical career is mainly conducted in Romania and France.

At age 20 he decided to settle in France, where he joined the orchestra of Philippe Lobel. During that time he also started studying piano at the Bill Evans Jazz Academy in Paris. Here he encountered other artists that will influence his artistic development: Richard Galliano, Marcel Azzola and Didier Lackwood.

He recorded his first album, „Accordeon Steeple” with pianist Antoine Hervier, offering an interesting combination of classical music and jazz. His second album „La balade pour Claudia”- was entirely and purely jazz. On this album you can hear the harmonies characteristic of Bill Evans, counterpoint weaves learned from Charlie Parker, Grapelli’s swing and his own, original works. His third album, „Etnofonia” is a jazz incursion into the repertoire of Maria Tanase.

Emy Drăgoi has initiated, in parallel, multiple musical projects with which he performs on Romanian and French stages: Acordeon Jazz (with the repertoire of Mariei Tănase), Jazz Hot Club Romania, Etno-Fonia, Quartet “Swing de Paris”, Cine-Acordeon and Magic Național (a concert-show at the Bucharest National Theater).
