Lars Danielsson returns to Garana Jazz Festival with a new Liberetto – Cloudland. Recorded last summer, aided by the relaxation of European restriction, the album contains the elegant lyrical qualities we are already used to, but also a variety of musical colours. With this album he has succeeded to transpose into notes an old wish he had explored over the years, to play in asymmetrical meters.

For Lars Danielsson, virtuoso of the double bass and celo, the power of music lies in melody. The atmosphere he creates in his compositions or improvisation sessions, the tones with their introspective and enveloping resonances, his unavoidable experiments, they are all found throughout his music and collaboration projects.

In the 80’s he played in quartet with Dave Liebman, Bobo Stenson and Jon Christensen, with whim he recorded New Hands (1986), Poems (1991), Far North (1994) and Live At Visiones (1997). In parallel, he collaborated with Jack DeJohnette, John Scofield, Bill Evans, Ulf Wakenius, Alex Acuña, Nils Landgren, Wolfgang Haffner and Peter Erskine. Libera me (2004) and Mélange Bleu (2006) are his first albums released with ACT Music, alongside Nils Petter Molvær, Jon Christensen, Cæcilie Norby and Bugge Wesseltoft. They were followed by his collaboration with Polish pianist Leszek Możdżer. Their album, Pasodoble (2007), and the following tours were a huge success with the audience.

In recent years, three albums become essential milestones of his discography: Liberetto (2012), Liberetto II (2014) and Liberetto III (2017), with Magnus Öström on drums and John Paricelli- guitar as the core, and Tigran Hamasyan, Mathias Eick, Grégory Privat, Cæcilie Norby and Arve Henriksen as guests.
