A project deserving all accolades, Helsinki Songs, will be brought on the festival stage by an old friend of the Garana audience – Norwegian sax player Trygve Seim. The structure of the album is more of a musical journal, with themes dedicated to the great musicians that have inspired him (Ornette Coleman and Jimmy Webb).

Trygve Seim has multiple records with various labels, 22 of which are with ECM Records (7 of them as band leader). His saxophone was quickly appreciate, and his compositions and orchestral arrangements propelled him to the top of great nordic musicians. All projects he was part of showed his creative and inquisitive spirit. He collaborated with Frode Haltli, The Source, Sinikka Langeland, Arild Andersen, Jon Balke Oslo 13, Håvard Lund, Nils Petter Molvær, Manu Katché, Jacob Young, Iro Haarla, Fathy Salama, Per Oddvar Johansen, Jai Shankar, Christian Wallumrød and many others.
