Ariel Brínguez performs with soulful music, putting his Cuban origins as a base while crossing all kinds of frontiers. More than a virtuoso saxophonist, Brínguez has a personal and unique sound and phrasing, as well as a fresh, philosophical and sophisticated compositional universe. Nostalgia Cubana is a personal and very special project, where he advocates a more intimate musical Cuba, as well as a tribute to the forms cultivated by great artists such as Bola de Nieve, José Antonio Méndez, Eliseo Grenet, Cachaito López and Juanito Márquez. He goes into a path in which he unravels each one of the feelings evoked by the themes of famous poems set to music, already belonging to the universal cultural heritage. Nostalgia cubana manages to recreate the sonorous atmosphere of the Cuba of the 1950s, recalling it while at the same time nourishing it with current musical conceptions in a repertoire that continually evokes passion as the essence of the human being.
Ariel Brínguez has played with musicians of the stature of: Chucho Valdés, Tata Güines, Changuito Quintana, Larry Willis, Simply Red, Alain Pérez, Niña Pastori, Ketama, Paquito D'Rivera, David Murray, Omara Portuondo, Miguel Zenón and Marcus Miller among many others. He has won two North American Grammys with Chucho Valdés and Alejandro Sanz, and together with Iván Melon Lewis a Latin Grammy for “Voyager" (2021)
