Eight-time Grammy Award-winning American bassist Christian McBride will present his new quintet at the Gărâna Jazz Festival 2024. Made up of young and versatile musicians, this new group is in keeping with McBride's characteristic acoustic jazz and fusion-funk style. The Ursa Major includes: Ely Perlman on guitar, Mike King on keyboards, Savannah Harris on drums and Nicole Glover on saxophone.
Christian McBride is one of the most experienced and adaptable musicians in the art of jazz. His mastery is evident in his compositions and arrangements, as is his flair for improvisation and spontaneous creation. Exploring diverse genres from jazz to R&B, pop/rock and hip-hop/neo-soul to classical, Christian McBride is a chameleonic virtuoso of acoustic and electric bass and an undisputed leader. He has performed and recorded with a host of jazz musicians and ensembles including Freddie Hubbard, McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Joe Henderson, Diana Krall, Roy Haynes, Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, Eddie Palmieri and Joshua Redman.
