A pioneer of live looping since the 1980s, legendary Norwegian double bassist Arild Andersen creates musical textures in real time that range from sweeping orchestrations to fascinating soundscapes, all built around improvisation. Arild Andersen is one of European jazz's leading double bassists, with a career spanning more than five decades. Known for his collaborations with artists such as George Russell, Don Cherry, Jan Garbarek, Terje Rypdal, Bill Frisell and for his albums on ECM Records, Andersen combines technical mastery with a deep musical sensibility. Each of his releases is a demonstration of virtuosity and innovation, exploring new sonic territories while retaining the essence of authentic jazz.
At Gărâna Jazz Festival, the double bass master will be joined by two Scandinavian personalities with exceptional careers: pianist Bugge Wesseltoft (New Conception of Jazz, Rymden) and drummer Gard Nilssen (Gard Nilssen Acoustic Unity, Bushman´s Revenge).
