Jon Hassell, Arve Henriksen, Bendik Hofseth, Andy Sheppard, Food, Arild Andersen, Ketil Bj\u00f8rnstad, Bugge Wesseltoft, Marilyn Mazur and many other sought a collaboration with him; not only to play their music, but to add a new voice to their work. His first album as leader, Electronique Noir (1998), was considered \u201cOne of the best post-Miles electric jazz albums\u201d (New York Times).
